Sources & Disclaimer
How to read what you see on GradeLocal. This page is about transparency — not legal advice.
Coverage
- Tennessee restaurants, county-by-county (A→Z in progress — not full statewide yet).
- Unseeded places show an empty waitlist — we do not invent listings for those areas.
Health score & grade
- Scores come from Tennessee Department of Health food-service inspections, via the My Health Department portal and local public-record mirrors when the portal blocks.
- GradeLocal does not invent or grade restaurants ourselves. We display published scores.
- Data can lag behind the latest inspection. Always treat the official TDH record as authoritative.
- Why this Health score only appears when the public source printed violation detail. If bullets are missing, the source usually published a number only.
- Letter grades may be derived from the numeric score when the source did not print a letter (A ≥ 90, B ≥ 80, C ≥ 70).
- When a place has duplicate permits at the same suite (e.g. dining room vs. bar), GradeLocal may merge them into one listing and keep the lower Health score — same-suite standing rule.
- The sticky Overall health score rail shows aggregates (averages) of the Health scores for the selected place — not a separate TDH grade or product, and never a star review.
GradeLocal ★ & Price ($)
- GradeLocal ★ and $ wait on claims / logged-in ratings — never sample Google or Yelp.
- Until someone rates a place, you’ll see empty stars and Be the first to rate!
- Dollar signs stay blank until an owner claims the listing or a verified user sets price.
- Health grade stays the separate official plate.
Menus
- When a Full menu link appears, it goes to a third-party page (restaurant site or menu host).
- GradeLocal does not host menus and does not guarantee they are current.
Affiliation & corrections
- GradeLocal is not affiliated with the Tennessee Department of Health.
